Our Process
Stage 1 – Identifying suitable franchise business options:
We will start with an initial consultation – typically 30-45 mins to determine if it makes sense for us to work together. If we agree to work together, we will then work through the following steps:
You will start by completing our detailed candidate questionnaire.
We will hold a one-hour call to review / debrief on the questionnaire to determine the key requirements for and build your ideal business model (based on your budget, your skills/experience/interests etc.).
We will research options for franchises that fit your ideal business model and that have availability in your desired geographic market.
We will hold a one-hour call to review the results of our research with you and recommend that you pick 2-3 businesses to explore in detail.
Stage 1 will usually take approximately 1 month.
Stage 2 – Franchise Due Diligence
We typically recommend that you pick 2-3 businesses to explore – as you work your way through the due diligence process you may drop a business to focus your efforts on your preferred choice (s). We believe it is valuable to compare/contrast different business models. It is important to remember that the franchisor is also doing their due diligence on you to determine if you would be suitable for their system.
We will introduce you to the franchise companies (known as franchisors) that you selected, and you will work through their due diligence processes.
Each franchisor will have their own process, but typically due diligence will comprise a series of calls/meetings, usually via zoom, with members of the franchisor teams, along the following lines:
Introductory / get to know you call;
2-3 calls that will review aspects such as their business model, their marketing platforms and operations (start up, staffing etc.);
The franchisor will share their Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) and give you chance to review the document and ask questions;
You will speak with existing franchise owners (known as franchisees) – this is perhaps the most important part of the process and is known as “validation”;
You will attend (in person or virtually) a “meet the team” or “discovery day” with the franchisor's executive team;
You should now be ready to make a decision as to whether the business is right for you – at this stage we can introduce you to an attorney that specializes in franchises to help you review the Franchise Agreement;
Sign the franchise agreement and pay the initial franchise fees.
